A facade can look perfect on paper—but fire safety is often decided at the details you don't see. From slab edges to service interfaces, fire stopping is not an afterthought. It is a core part of facade design.
Fire does not spread randomly. It follows the conditions around it.

The incidents at the KWSP Building and Grenfell Tower serve as a serious reminder of the consequences of fire. Lessons from these past incidents have strongly shaped fire safety regulations and the way fire risks are addressed today.

The Hidden Barrier Against Fire
Part of fire safety strategy is splitting building into fire-protected parts or compartments using cavity closers. It helps the smoke and flame from penetrating or moving within a concealed space in a fire compartment.
On paper, facade fire compliance may appear simple and straightforward. However, once a building is constructed, it requires comprehensive practical coordination across architecture, fire safety, structural design, MEP, and installation.
As architecture becomes more complex, so do the challenges. Fire safety can no longer be solved by one discipline alone—it requires every discipline to work together, especially when facing worst-case scenarios.
